Director Jehane Noujaim and producer Karim Amer talk about their Academy Award-nominated documentary The Square in this SundanceNOW exclusive interview. They talk about the spirit of opposition, and the actualization of collective power in Cairo's Tahrir Square that led to the ouster of Hosni Mubarak in 2011 and thrives to this day, and about how young audiences have embraced the film's message of empowerment.
The film debuts on Netflix on January 17, can be seen in select theaters, and will compete for Best Documentary at the 2014 Academy Awards.
