Here & Now & Then: 1982

All of our senses were heightened when we were younger, and the habitual rewatching of the films that affected us are ways of trying to relive those lost feelings of elation—feelings often brought on by fear. There’s something paradisiacal about those childhood terrors, in fact, in which every violent moment we caught in a film or TV show was a major disruption. Even the most minor incident carried the weight of the world.
